Squeeze Me--for Great Fun

By Vickilane

A book pusher friend recently left a large sack of reading material for me--most of it on the serious side. But I grabbed the Hiassen, feeling ready for a bit of humor.

And what fun it is! Hijinks in Florida at the Winter White House Casa (Bellicosa) where one of the Potus's (code name Mastodon) elderly wealthy admirers (a Potussy) has been swallowed by a Burmese Python.

There is raucous humor--a tanning bed incident that goes badly awry; political comment--the Potus's tiny Twitterfingers scapegoat an innocent Latino to enrage his base (Hiassen does a fine imitatation of the Former Guy's style;) a fine, twisty plot; a kick-ass female protagonist; enough crazy Florida people from a broad range of socio-economic classes to populate a large asylum, including a rogue, one-eyed ex-governor who incubates an iguana egg in the eye-socket.

If, like me, you were not a fan of the Former Guy, this will be a wild, cathartic ride you'll probably enjoy. It's a nice break from all the holiday stuff.
