Spring in December...While It Lasts...

What weather! Our doors and windows are open and I'm wearing a short sleeved t-shirt as I organize and put away Christmas wrapping stuff (unlike most years when it occupies my worktable till well into February) and scurry around, ironing Christmas napkins, writing thank you notes, and filing away recipes used recently in hopes I can find them again.

Our quince bushes are blooming like mad, careless of the rumor that colder, more seasonable weather is coming soon.

The budding branches that John cut and I put in vases are opening white in the darker parts of the house and this very delicate shell pink in the south-facing kitchen window (which hasn't gotten any sun to speak of till Sunday.)
What a difference the sun makes -- to all of us.
