Smashbox is a brand I’ve been keen on trying for ages. Their products are designed to last all day and all night, so I thought that one of the best ways to test this would be to try the Smashbox Limitless Eye Liner.

I’m not particularly good with eye liner; both in application and getting it to last all day. I tend to rub my eyes a lot and staring at my computer screen usually makes my eyes water, so I need an eye liner which will last, but will also rub away should I make a horrid application mistake (which is quite likely!). Thankfully I didn’t have to do too much of the latter with the Smashbox Limitless Eye Liner because it glides onto the skin so smoothly. It doesn’t tug or need to be warmed up before application which is great, especially as it’s not grainy or dry, and it just means that applying the eye liner is so simple and quick. The color of the eye liner itself is strong but can be built up and made more bold, or smudged for a smoky look. As such, this makes for a very versatile and user-friendly make up product, and even better is that it contains vitamin E and jojoba oil.

So does the eye liner actually last? Well, yes, for the most part. For much of the day the Smashbox Limitless eye liner stayed in place and remained bold, but I did find that it smudged gradually at the corners. Obviously rubbing my eyes resulted in panda-like qualities, but the eye liner comes off easily with warm water and make up remover. Unlike some other eye liners I’ve tried, I’m pleased that this one doesn’t make my eyes sting or water, or require vigorous rubbing to make it come off. Having said that, I have slept whilst wearing it (tut tut!) and found it had faded a little and there were a few smudges around my eyes, but otherwise it had stayed in place quite nicely, providing the aforementioned smoky eye look. Possibly worth noting if you are looking for a non-waterproof eye liner to last you through the day and the night!

Although my eye liner is a sample sized one, the full size one has a sharpener on the lid which I think is a nice touch. I’m not sure I would pay £14 for this though simply because I don’t wear eye liner much and I don’t think I’d completely reap the benefits. However I have used this one on 4 occasions and found that it doesn’t need to be sharpened yet so I’d imagine the full size one will last a long time and prove good value for money.
