This really hurts, but it is time to make it official. For those of you who have not already heard, we will be selling the hotel this year and once we sell, will relocate closer to our kids and grandkids. Horrible time to be selling, but it is what it is…early retirement, here we come!
With regards to all of the runs and events that we have promoted for the town over the years, we’ll be stepping away from all of them except for the running events. The Coury’s have taken over the Kendall Mountain Run as well as the Silverton Alpine Marathon & 50k (we’ll continue to support them). Last year, they started the 6/12 & 24 hour runs which we’ll also continue to support.
The really sad news is that the Coury’s will not be able to take over the Silverton 1000 mile and related runs….My BABY! If anyone is interested in taking over this event, please let us know. John Geesler wants a rematch!
We already have the town approval for this event and will support it the best that we can if someone will step up. Because of the damage done to it last year, from the kids and BB guns, we will not be putting up the large 6000 square foot tent again. We’ll be taking the tent back to Phoenix and using what parts that are still usable for our special events facility, there. A smaller tent will be available as well as timing equipment, tables, chairs, clock, finish line equip, etc. We’ll also donate over $2000 worth of buckles and other Silverton 1000 related materials. Even if the Silverton 1000 does not happen, we will be supporting a new event called Dillons’ Run, in memory of Dillon Paxton who passed away while the event was going on last year (from a car accident). The plan was to put on Dillons’ run and the Silverton 1000 simultaneously.
