September Favorites - Butter London, Charlotte Tilbury, Lipstick Queen, Pacifica, Mineral Fusion, IT Cosmetics & MORE!

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig
I never know how to start these posts…and I never know how to wrap them up. Having said that, September has been one of those months that both drug by and flew by super fast. I don’t know how that works, but it is what it is. I feel like I don’t have a ton of favorites this month, but there are some definite standouts that I want to share.

I’m going to start with my absolute favorite nail polish so far this Fall (ok, Fall has just barely begun, but it’s that good). Thanks to Ipsy (you can see what I received in September here), I have found a new nail polish obsession – Pacifica’s 7 Free Nail Polish in Red Red Wine. I’m not going to go on and on about it since it’s one of my Fall Nail Polish Picks (check that out here), but it’s truly beautiful!

Another nail polish love of the month is a shade I’d had in my head, but couldn’t find anything close in my masses of polishes. It’s called Rock Cress from Mineral Fusion. It’s really just a plain ole deep grape crème polish. It’s quite odd that I don’t seem to have a similar shade, but actually I had forgotten how great the Mineral Fusion formula is, so I’m happy that I picked this one up! It goes on beautifully (I used 2 coats, but you could probably get away with one if you’re a better manicurist than I) and it takes a long time to chip – even on my damaged, peeling nails! Both the formula and the shade have been huge favorites this month.

On the eye front, I have an expensive but really nice one. It’s one of the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Colour Morphing Eye Shadow Pencils in the shade Dark Pearl. I love a good eye shadow pencil and these blend so beautifully! Plus the color is quite unusual and it has a really pretty glimmer to it. I’m not sure that’s the best way to describe it, but it’s definitely not glitter, it’s not exactly shimmer, it just adds kind of a nice glow to the eyes. The color itself is a stunning hybrid of golden-chocolatey-bronze with maybe a touch of rosy-lilac. It’s absolutely fantastic and it lasts really well with a primer (my eyes always need a primer). It costs more than I’d like to pay for a Shadow Pencil, but I think it’s probably worth it. Need More! J

The picture truly doesn't do the color justice, but it's the best I could do.

For the lips, I’ve been reaching for the Lipstick Queen Hello Sailor Lipstick a lot. I reviewed that here as well – this post is getting rather plug-heavy! It’s that shocking blue lipstick that becomes a sheer wash of berry on the lips. You can build it up for a deeper berry, or go for more of a tinted lip balm type effect, which is what I have usually done. It’s just so comfortable and easy. Plus it’s fantastic for Fall!

Another lip favorite that I haven’t mentioned before is from Butter London. It’s one of their new Matte Moisture Lipstick in the shade Loved Up. Not only do I absolutely love the formula of these lipsticks (though I’m kind of unsure about a lot of the shades), but Loved Up is kind of the perfect Fall transition color! Butter London calls it a “sassy berry-red,” which I kind of agree with. I feel like it’s more of a bright raspberry, though I’m not sure that’s much different. Anyway, it’s a really comfortable matte lipstick (a rarity indeed!) that also has enough creaminess to it that it doesn’t make your lips look cracked, cakey, dry, and just plain too flat. Your lips still look like healthy lips, not dried out prunes. J Now if only there were some better neutrals too….

With the redder toned lip colors, I’ve needed to cover the redness on my face even more. Enter IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness! Again, I reviewed this recently and you can find it here. It’s basically a really heavy duty concealer and it can quickly and easily battle redness. Enough said I think! J

I don’t normally include non-beauty related items, but I’ve been absolutely in love with this necklace this month. Maybe even the past 2 months. It’s the Rose Gold Origami Crane Necklace from Olive Yew Jewels. I was unsure of how it would look on since I ordered it online and it’s such an unusual shape, but it’s really pretty and delicate and it sits at varying angles which I think actually makes it more interesting to wear. It’s just a really unusual find that I love! You can find Olive Yew jewelry on Etsy, OpenSky and JewelMint.

Finally on the loves front, I have a cookie recipe that I found on Pinterest! It’s for Pumpkin Spice Snickerdoodles and oh my god are they delicious! The recipe makes quite a few cookies, but you can keep the dough in the fridge and bake as you want them, or if you make them all at once, they keep amazingly well! I probably made them at least 4-5 days ago (surprisingly there are actually a few left!) and they still taste just as fresh as the day I made them! I’m not normally a huge fan of snickerdoodles, but these are so tasty. Sugary, spicy, buttery cookie goodness! You can find the recipe here. I highly recommend trying them!

So that’s it! I guess I’ve been mentioned my favorites all month long, but now you have them all in one place. J Plus a few non-beauty favorites for a change. I hope you enjoy and I hope you’ve had a wonderful September and have an even better October!!! The Holidays are right around the corner! And am I the only one disturbed by the Christmas sets being released so early?! It’s annoyed me, made me excited, and confused the hell outta me as to what month we’re in. J So strange. Anyway, here’s to a happy October!!! J
