Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race 2017 - Daily Updates - Day 32

Daily Diary
Wednesday 19th July - day 32

It is noticeably more humid at 5 am as I`walk to the race set up and today is generally warmer, especially from 11 am till 4 pm. Max to about 33c. The evening is again a good time to chase down the laps and it is noticeable the leading five manage to do this. 6th place Yolanda also increased but being a walker is at a slower pace and reliant on shorter breaks.
Most runners seem to have recovered their health, but are very short of energy.
However still some new helpers are coming down with a tummy bug.
Kaneenika records her straight 3rd 119 lap day and creeps a little closer to second place. The top six all do 109 laps or more.
Nirbhasa and Kaneenika both go through 2000 miles. Nirbhasa some 2 days quicker than when he was here 2 years ago.
Harita does 109 laps and is only 5 miles below that magic average. While Yolanda is 28 miles below that average and as said earlier, limited by her walking pace.
As the days pass more and more speculation grows as to finishing times and who will finish.
So an early prediction by me is that the top three will finish before the cut off, with Vasu around 47 days 8 hrs.
All are really willing both Harita and Yolanda to finish within the 52 days, but odds are stacked against them. However clinging to the "Sichel" pattern we think he was still 38 miles below the magical line at this time. But he had 35 years experience behind him and a very knowlegable crew. !!!!
