The Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race 2015 gets underway on Sunday June 14th – three days from now and the finalised list of competitors sees the return of Finland’s Ashprihanal Aalto, seven time winner from his 12 finishes and the second fastest finisher in the history of this, the 19th edition of the race.
Also returning after an absence of several years is Australian Grahak Cunningham, winner in his last 3100 and recently the author of a book describing his multiday experiences, Running Beyond the Marathon: insights into the longest footrace in the world.
Returning for his 11th race, Stutisheel has also produced a book based on his experiences at the 3100, Eat To Run. Holistic nutrition for the ultra-marathon runner.
This year sees the vastly experienced Kaneenika Janakova stepping up from the Self-Transcendence 10 day race, which she won five times, setting a course record in 2014 with 727 miles and who also finished the 1000 mile race in 15 days, 19 hours.
Joining her at the start also for the first time will be Ireland’s Nirbhasa Magee. Currently living in Iceland, Nirbhasa has run both the 6 & 10 day races, finishing last years 10 day with 702 miles.
