Clarence Seedorf is the newest signing for Brazilian side Botafogo

After weeks of speculation that he might be going to Brazil, China, England or even the MLS, former Dutch international Clarence Seedorf decided to fulfill his personal desire to play in the country where his wife was born, more specifically, her hometown- Rio.

Botafogo announced on their website that the former AC Milan and Real Madrid man signed a two-year contract with O Fogão, thus becoming the biggest foreign signing in Brazilian football history.   After nearly a decade with AC Milan, the native of Paramaribo, Suriname, Seedorf became one of the most respected players in rossoneri history.

Seedorf finished his contract with the Italian giants just a few days ago and he took part in the World Soccer Masters Tour held in Miami.
