A truely brilliant piece of poetry satisfies all senses. Here's a villanelle;
Words that carve abysmal to page and mindRarely written in formulations that feel meek
Evoking the senses, wild and sublime
Beautiful, haunting, caressing the earsIn a pattern echoing soft yet piercing deep
Words that carve abysmal to page and mind
Ink staining the crisp page with obsidian tearsLike the bright eyes that follow it and weep
Evoking the senses, wild and sublime
The scent of those pages, musky with yearsAnd the passion of the poet creating colours in world that paints bleak
Words that carve abysmal into the page and mind
Those colours weaving churn the reader’s fearsThat he thinks can only torture him whilst he sleeps
Evoking the senses, wild and sublime
And the soul stirs, roars and cheersFor the satisfying taste of poetry that with beauty reaps
Words that carve abysmal into page and mind
Evoking the senses, wild and sublime.
