I was in Ayala FGU Center earlier today (along Ayala avenue by GT Tower) after making bank deposit and I checked out the inconspicuous shopping space for Christmas sales on the ground floor, a sadly lit area which often holds random bulk sales. There was a Toys R’ Us (up to 70% off) and a Saizen Daiso “everything Php88″ supply in there today. I walked in but didn’t expect to find these Crystal Cream Eyecolors and even more so did not completely expect that they’d actually be really good…but I had a feeling…woohooo because a less shimmery equivalent of these in the UK would be those MeMeMe Dewpots the Pixiwoo sisters have been using fairly often. These Crystal Creams are dinky and cute, good alone on the eyes or as eye bases, and will appeal to those in the market for “kawaii” trinkets.
I like that there was some thought put into the packaging in the same way that Cover Girl Lash Blast mascaras are packaged with the tube covered with a temporary cap so that the wand is visible. The cream eyeshadows are packed inverted just so you can see the shades at the bottom and these are first covered with plain brown twist-on caps that you can dispose of (or keep) so you can slap on the “bejeweled” caps and knock your kawaii selves out. I got the shades Rose, a warm rosy champagne (comparable to Stila “Kitten” or Benefit Creaseless Cream in “RSVP”) and Cocoa, a cool taupe (comparable to Benefit Creaseless Cream in “Birthday Suit”). They’re shimmery but in that really good way. For some reason the Rose shade was melting mousse soft in comparison to the Cocoa one which was significantly more thick and solid. Some storage or transit condition may have caused the Rose one to melt a bit, but both go on really pretty. They’re easy to smudge and blend around in the first 5 minutes but they set speedily after that and become extremely water resistant, so much so you can’t even scratch them off. Rose on the right, Cocoa on the left.
The shimmer tends to transfer a fair bit in the first few seconds upon application, but after it shouldn’t transfer too much as long as you don’t rub scratch or aggressively. When you buy stuff from Saizen Daiso “Japan” don’t be expecting all items to be Made in Japan, not everything is. These Php88 cream eyeshadows are Made in Taiwan aka produced FOR Saizen Daiso, although they’re not in any way made of natural ingredients I appreciate that the ingredients list is short so expect the usual budget cocktail, silicon, mica, oxides. At Php88 these were a really, really cute find for me today…well I blogged about them right away, didn’t I? Here are some of the Saizen Daiso outlets around locally:
