Mike Tomlin updated the injury report as the Steelers prepare to face the Giants in their first preseason action of 2014, Ryan Shazier and Jarvis Jones highlighted a long list of questionable players for the game Saturday.
The heralded 2014 rookie class will get their first official taste of NFL action on Saturday when the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to New Jersey to face off against the New York Giants. However, inside linebacker Ryan Shazier might not get the same experience as his classmates.
During Mike Tomlin's brief press conference at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, Shazier and his knee injury highlighted a list of players that were questionable for the upcoming preseason matchup. Joining Shazier on the list of questionable players was second year outside linebacker Jarvis Jones who is recovering from a groin injury.

Others that made the questionable list were linebacker Jordan Zumwalt, nosetackle Steve McLendon, wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, and rookie tight end Rob Blanchflower.
The questionable tag refers to a player having a 50/50 chance of playing, but in the preseason the NFL is not as strict with the coding of injuries as it is in the regular season.
With a long list of rookie injuries you can expect some of those o the list to play if at all possible. The Steelers are expected to err on the side of caution with players like Shazier and Jones to ensure their injuries don't plague them for the long term.
In the meantime, when players like Shazier are out of the lineup, it will give the likes of Vince Williams and Sean Spence to see more time and prove their worth within the organization.
The Steelers practice Thursday at 3 p.m. ET and have the day off Friday as they travel to New Jersey for the game Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
