This is crazy stuff right here. ESPN has the footage (below) and just about anywhere you look right now you can find the story about him.
Via Huffingtonpost: Rutgers has suspended coach Mike Rice three games without pay and fined him $50,000 for a violation of department policy. Athletic director Tim Pernetti announced the decision Thursday. He said the suspension is a result of inappropriate behavior and language, not NCAA violations. ”Mike will not be permitted to do anything. He’ll be removed from the program. He won’t be able to be active in his role as head basketball coach inside or outside the university,” Pernetti said. “The suspension for this period of time and these games is a complete removal from the program.” Rice will return to his duties as head coach Jan. 2 at Syracuse. ”I was made aware of some things within the last couple of weeks. We commenced a thorough, lengthy and fair investigation and this was the result of that investigation,” Pernetti said. “There was obviously some things that are not to the Rutgers’ standard that we evaluated and decided upon.”
If you want the short version. Managers of the team took hours of video of Coach Rice at practice hitting and pushing his players; throwing basketballs at players and using offensive language towards his players. All of this earned him a small 3 game suspension and a $50k fine. Well, now it is most likely going to cost him his job and let me be frank, it should.

There’s no place for this in any sport. I’m sure it happens all the time but there’s really no need for it, especially at the college level. Sure, getting into a kid’s face and challenging them is fair game, but to grab, pull and push kids around the court is just childish. Even further, you can see him chucking balls at his player’s heads and feet and calling them motherf***ers and fa***ts. Is this the kind of “adult” we want mentoring our children in some of their most important years? Think about it, these kids sign on to learn from this man and he spends his time berating them and potentially hurting them.
This guy’s a clown and should be out of coaching for good. Go get some help bro. No need to take it to a level where you’re physically and verbally abusing your team. Rutgers needs a better person running their team because by the looks of it he’s a terrible person and not too good of a coach.
