Revlon have released what can only be described as a copy of Clinique’s Chubby Stick, except much cheaper! I’ve always a Chubby Stick but I’ve only tried it in passing so I can’t really do a proper comparative review, but when I did try it in store I found it dried quite quickly and wasn’t a particular bright/bold color. I think that’s why they have now released their Intense range which is more pigmented. I don’t think I’ll bother with it though because I’ve now got the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable balm stain and I really like it.

I have the Revlon lip stain in shade Honey/Dolce 001. It’s the palest of the shades and is quite subtle on my lips. It’s got just about enough color to make my lips stick out a little more, but the more you layer the brighter the shade becomes. I’ve also found that on application there is a slight minty smell which isn’t what I had expected at all.. The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable balm stain moisturises lips leaving them feeling soft and protected against the harsh wintery weather, but doesn’t feel sticky in the process. The balm stays put for a couple of hours, even with eating and drinking. Once it’s gone the stain still remains, and the cover is really smooth and even. Unlike some lipsticks you don’t get lines of color in between the lines on your lips; it really is a full coverage which you can then top up over the course of the day with more of the lip stain, or with other lip balm for a less intense look.

I really like this lip stain. I don’t usually wear anything more than Carmex on my lips so it’s been nice having color on my lips. It’s so easy to apply too because it’s a pointed stick which is meant to look like a ‘chubby’ crayon. You just twist the silver bit at the bottom to swivel the lip balm up, it really couldn’t be more simple.

The great thing about the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable balm stain is that they are all well pigmented, they don’t feel flimsy, and at the moment they are just £5 (usual RRP £7.99). That’s a fraction of the cost of Clinique’s Chubby Stick. I really like how Revlon have made a more ‘designer’ brand and products available much more cheaply. I’d definitely buy this one again as I like the colour, I like how easy it is to apply, and I like the slight minty scent. I like that my lips feel soft and it doesn’t dry them out or make them sticky either. And let’s face it, you can’t go too wrong for a fiver!
