For the first time, the Brazilian National Team has a complete third kit designed by Nike. The kit pays tribute to the dynamic and diverse country, from its natural landscape to its vibrant culture. From a fit standpoint, it also pays tribute to the fans as well as many can use it compared to the tighter versions of the official kits.
The use of the shade of green, that at first site looks as if it were black really gives it a cool edge as well as elegance. It’s a mix that evoking the country’s lush landscape and urban nightlife. The deep hue sets off vivid yellow detailing of the team crest and Swoosh.
Similar to Brazil’s national home jersey, the third uniform displays an illustration on the inside of the collar. Created by Bruno Big, a designer from Rio de Janeiro, the illustration shows a hand in a figa- a symbol of good luck. There is a really interesting feature to this jersey, that in combination with the new shorts, the kit is pretty fun. Maybe I am not a fan of the yellow and blue stripes, but that does not take away from the look of the entire kit. The shorts are longer than average as a tribute to Brazilian surfers.
There are some little features that are kind of cool especially when you look at the huge crest on the jersey. Some people have told me that it glows under certain flourescent lights, that is a cool “feature” but that is mostly attributed to the dye used on it. To see it would be really interesting for many.
Overall, this jersey could be one of the more cooler looking jerseys out there. It will probably be the most overlooked, for obvious reasons. Hope we get to see Brazil wear this kit at least once leading up to the World Cup.
