You know, despite technology having evolved so spectacularly, I’m surprised that no one has invented a vitamin supplement/no-fat/diet lipstick – based on the amount of lippies we ladies ingest, I’m sure it could accumulate a meal at some point. Anyhoos, ludicrous lipsticks and flying car ideas aside, here’s a new one that I’ve been trying out lately.

The Packaging: Undeniably luxe and sexy – the black leather casing has that awesome leather smell which I love sniffing from time to time (yes I’m vaguely creepy that way) and provides a slightly firmer grip than the usual glossy-surface lippies (you know, in the extremely unlikely scenario where some ‘ho decides to try to snatch it from you while you’re touching up in the toilet). The lipstick portion slides out of the leather-covered metal casing with a click mechanism (but isn’t those spring-loaded types) – it’s not leather coated, and is slightly slimmer, so be sure to get a good grip on it as it comes out.
The Scent: None.
The Application/Texture/Finish: First thing I have to say is that the color intensity is nothing like that of the actual lipstick bullet. To get the colours in the above photos, I had to apply quite a number of layers. It’s less of a lipstick and more of a glossy and hydrating tinted lip balm. It doesn’t feel too heavy on the lips, and is non-sticky and non-greasy. It also helped soothe the dry lips and makes for a rather decent base under a lipstick with a stronger intensity but matte finish. It’s said to be buildable, but for a color ‘ho like me, it never quite reaches the getai intensity of color that I sometimes opt for.
The Verdict: Well.. it is gorgeous, but it probably isn’t for me, based simply on my colour-loving tendencies (I’d probably choose the Le Rouge instead). It’s more of a daytime product in my view (but hey, if you’re one of those who are blessed with naturally gorgeous features, I’m sure you can rock this at any time). It may be a good hydrating lip product, but based on its price tag of SGD$52, it’s definitely pricey (in fact, pricier than Dior ($49) and YSL ($42-49) ). I’d say this is suitable for those who have a little something extra to spare from the wallet and like a natural flushed lippie finish. You can get Givenchy products from Sephora outlets.
