Review: Etude House Baking Powder BB Deep Cleansing Foam
By Herugliness
Hello! ~♥
The Etude House Baking Powder BB Deep Cleansing Foam was one of the items I was considering purchasing when I visited the Etude House store in Tokyo. I constantly circled around it, but then decided for the Wonder Pore Cleanser instead. Still I would have liked to try it out, so I was more than happy when I got a bunch of samples of the Baking Powder Foam at the cashpoint! ^_^ It was like the till girl read my mind.
So, today I will review the Etude House Baking Powder BB Deep Cleansing Foam for you.
Obviously my review is based on the sample packs I got, the full-size product contains 150ml and comes in a rather boring, unimpressive tube. Etude House often has cute and girly packing designs, but this one is rather boring. I guess they wanted to create something that looked "medical" and efficient instead of cute and girly.
Formulated with baking powder to penetrate and cleanse deep within pores to remove makeup and residues. Ideal for BB cream removal.
How to use: Apply to wet face and lather. Massage thoroughly and rinse with warm water.
The cleansing foam is a white, shimmering foam without any significant scent. Sometimes I feel like I smell citrus out of it, but maybe I am paranoid and it's gone as soon as I try to focus on it. Only after trying to grasp this scent I have read that it is actually really supposed to be the scent of lemons. This is a scent well done. It doesn't seem artificial at all.
There are tiny grains inside the foam. You cannot see them, but you feel them when you apply the foam on your face. These fine grains must be the baking powder inside the foam.
You only really need a tiny amount of the product as it really foams up a lot on your wet face, similar like soap.
The baking powder, or Sodium Carbonate, is, according to Etude House, supposed to be a mild exfoliator and cleansing agent which removes dirt from your pores. Indeed baking powder is known to be an all-round miracle product with antiseptic, antifungal, and lightly exfoliating abilities. If you are interested in it you can read up a lot of information about Sodium Carbonate in cosmetics here.
Sodium Carbonate really is a very mild and natural ingredient (after all you can even eat it!) and it didn't seem aggressive on my skin at all. I have super-sensitive skin that reacts with rashs, redness and even itchy breakouts to a lot of harsh products. My skin showed none such reactions to the cleansing foam at all. No kind of irritation, but instead my skin felt clean and super-smooth. There is also a pink version of this cleansing foam available, which is supposed to moisturise your skin. If you have dry skin this one might be a better choice for you. The Blue version seems more suitable for my super-oily skin.
There is also a Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam available, in difference to the Etude House Baking Powder BB Deep Cleansing Foam (confusing, right?) and as far as I understand the BB one is extra suitable for removing BB Cream and just has more cleansing power. Please correct me if I am wrong or you have more infos about this.
My skin is usually horrible and going through multiple ups and downs in a month even if I stick to the same facecleaning products, so it is hard to tell whether this cleanser was causing it or not, but I really felt like my skin condition improved during the time I was using it. I liked this product a lot and it might even find its way into my shopping basket some day.
