I’m kinda glad that the beauty industry has moved on from alcohol-based toners to treatment lotions / treatment essences. I mean, you’ve got freshly-cleansed skin – it’s in the best state to soak in mucho skincare goodness right? For the last few weeks, this is what I’ve been patting onto my skin.
Dr Andrew Weil For Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion
I say…
The Packaging: A plastic bottle (yay! no heavy glass bottle) with an attached flip-top cap (double yay! no dropping caps everywhere!).
The Scent: A herbal scent but it’s not those uplifting/aromatherapeutic types – think more of natural woody-type herbs which may or may not appeal to all.
The Texture: A clear, watery liquid that’s easily absorbed into the skin leaving no residue. All you have to do is pat it in gently, and it’ll settle into the skin, leaving it feeling instantly hydrated and soothed.
The Verdict: Now at first glance, it doesn’t seem like much, and it doesn’t give an instantly brightened/a radiance boost either. What it does is more of a long-term thing – I’ve been using this for a month or so, and noticed that my skin seems less irritable and not as dry. It can also serve as an instant skin moisture level booster – when I got a slight outbreak and a too-dry chin area with multiple bumps (from using this cleansing gel), all I had to do was to soak a cotton pad with this Treatment Lotion and press it over said affected area. The skin would become more hydrated and felt more soothed. Used a too-dry or stripping cleanser? You can apply this after cleansing so that the skin doesn’t feel too tight and taut. Overall, a pretty decent and mild Treatment Lotion that should suit most skintypes.
