Sometimes, I refer to myself as 3M – you know, the brand that makes those sticky tapes and post-it pads? Cos whenever I find something I like, I stick to it. Hah. Lame reference, I know. But it is true that once I find something I like, I tend to stick with it for a long time – I may venture out to try other products, but 8/10 times I’ll find myself coming back to the good ole’ tried-and-tested product. For blushers, I’ve been using Esprique’s Melty Fix Cheek Stick for forever, until I recently discovered the Peripera Cushion Blusher. Now, it’s time to venture out of my comfort zone again to try something newwwwww.
Eyeliner: Shaky Sleepy Hands (aka did it so early in the morning that I was half asleep)
I say…
- I have a soft spot for this sort of stick-balm type of blushers. As I mentioned in my Hada Labo Air BB cream review, I have dry cheeks (damn you, oily combi skin!). Upon first application, a powder blusher might look good, but after several hours , my skin kicks into overdrive and it just looks v meh and patchy.
- It comes in a very fat (and aptly named) chubby pencil tube form, measuring just over 2cm in diameter.
- This gives you a very good grip during application.
- To dispense or retract, simply twist the bottom.
- This color (03 Roly Poly Rosy) is a slightly deeper and richer cherry pink, you only need a couple of dabs to get enough color for a natural flush. Blend with your fingertips using a gentle patting motion, and you’ll get the effect in my photos above.
- If you want to get a more pronounced blush, dab on a few more spots and blend away – it doesn’t cake either.
- It gives a nice semi-glowy finish, which is great for emphasising your cheekbones.
- It doesn’t sit into the enlarged pores of the face (which is great).
- The color stays for a pretty long time, even after I dab with blotting paper – in fact, I daresay it stays for a whopping 6 hours or more. BUT (and there’s always a but) – it’s only if you don’t wipe with tissue paper.
- I guess it’s a pretty convenient function though, seeing as it’s easily removed with just tissue (and I didn’t even have to wet it). No nuzzling the man’s shirt then, I guess? Hah.
If you’re looking for a different type of blusher, this one is worth a try. It’s easy to blend and doesn’t stain, and if you mess up first application, you can just try, try and try again :)
