Review: Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clearing Gel

By Beautifulbuns

Contrary to some other “beauty bloggers” that swatch/try a product for a few times and call it a review, I actually do subject my skin to an enormously large amount of products. Sadly, I don’t have any DNA from elephants, so I don’t have a thick hide that’s immune to breakouts. On the bright side, I do also get anti-blemish products to try, so I guess it all works out :D

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clearing Gel

I say…

  • It’s a clear transparent gel, and dries really quickly on the skin, leaving no remnant.
  • It comes in a small plastic bottle with a tiny hole opening, so you won’t over-dispense too much product.
  • Although it’s fragrance-free, you can smell the astringent (alcohol) content.
  • It’s quite strong (possibly cos of the alcohol in the content), so if you’re having somewhat irritated skin (or skin that’s easily irritated), I’d say go easy on this.
  • Now this differs slightly from other anti-blemish treatments, because not only can it be a targeted spot thing, you can also slather it on all over your skin (barring the eye area of course). It’s said to help prevent / cure spots.
  • However, I’ve been using it as a spot treatment instead, cos as anyone who’s used Clinique before should know – its products can be a little on the drying side. If you’re going to apply it on your entire face, be sure to do so sparingly, and also to apply some moisturiser on before/after.
  • In a way, since it’s quite drying, it does help in calming down those red spots (especially the mountainous Mount Vesuvius-like ones), resulting in it subsiding.
  • It’s more of a “shrinker” than a “ripener” (which are my preferred types of spot treatments, cos then it means the dirt is completely expelled from the skin.)

I’d classify this as a SWAT member-type anti-blemish – to be used in cases of emergency, when you really need something (the spot) to be taken down immediately.
