Review: Anna Sui Loose Powder in Shade 101

Without a doubt, Anna Sui has one of the most beautiful packaging in the beauty sector, and this Anna Sui Loose Powder in 101 is no exception. A intricately carved dome opens to reveal a vibrant purple kabuki brush head that leads down to a see-through base that contains the loose powder. I'm excited at the idea of an alternative to my usual pressed powder which may some times come off as a cakey after application as I have textbook-case oily skin.

The powder is very ultra-finely milled, and it picks up easily with either the silky soft kabuki brush applicator that comes with it, or alternatively the with my own standard powder blush. However,  the one bone I have to pick with it is that the powder does not flow through directly into the brush for dispersing, instead you have to remove the kabuki and invert the plastic tami (the hole-y piece), then brush in.

Go gentle and swirl gently and slowly, the tricks is not to be overzealous and jabbing it into the jar. It may get abit messy if you do not control the force exerted.

Coverage-wise. I am happy with it. When fluffed over after I applied my PONDS bb cream, it takes to color and sets it very naturally without being patchy, brightening out my complexion and helps to add another level of coverage when buffed in. This is thanks in part to the plate-like particles of Moisture Plate Powder and Sliding Powder, which creates an even glowing veil-like finish . Shade 101 is on the nude side but it works on a yellow-undertone skin like mine. Plus, it helped to keep my sebum production in check, keeping my complex matte without needing a touch-up!

Would I repurchase?

Yes I would, even though it take sometime to open and set the piece in place to use. Its one of the most blendable loose powders I've tried, and the prettiness of the piece makes me happy to show it off everytime I bring it out (#bimbo alert). I much prefer the more natural finish of loose power vs pressed powder, so this mobile piece is perfect and plus its reusable once the powder is finished!
