Review and Swatches of M.A.C Cosmetics Nutcracker Sweet Gold Pigments and Glitter Kit

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
We all know M.A.C releases a new collection almost every time we turn around. A lot of their limited edition collections can be hit or miss, but so far their Nutcracker Sweet Collection is proving to be a huge hit for me. I love high shine and lots of shimmer in my eye looks, especially this time of year. I went to Belk to see what was in the collection, and once I saw this beautiful, gleaming set, I had to have it.
I am going to apologize in advance. The lighting might be a little off in some of the images. The weather has been pretty gross and I rely a lot on natural lighting for most of pictures, especially when it comes to products with a lot of glitter and shine. I tried to adjust the brightness as best as I could.

The Gold Pigment and Glitter Kit comes with two loose pigments and two loose glitters.
  • English Gilt is a loose pigment and it is a GORGEOUS metallic champagne with a hint of silver.

  • The gold glitter is, well, gold.

  • Rust is a finer glitter than gold, and it is a lovely red with small flecks of gold throughout.

  • Heritage Rouge is the second loose pigment and it is plum.

I have used these many different ways and they are such a fun to amp up any look. I have used them on top of a matte lipstick to make them metallic. I have used the glitter along the lower lash line to add some extra "oomph" to an otherwise ho-hum look. English Gilt looks amazing on the lid with a dark brown in the crease. I have also used it on the center of the lid (on top of a matte shade) while doing a halo eyeshadow look.

I did swatch these over M.A.C's Paint Pot in Painterly.
Fall out is definitely going to be an issue, but I feel like that is to be expected. Even so, the fallout does wipe away easily. As long as you do your eye makeup first, there will not be any problems. The pigment of all four is amazing. I don't have to work with them too much to create a look. They also stay on very well if you use a tackier primer. I don't notice any glitter particles on my face at the end of the day, which is always a good thing.  The gold glitter is a little bit chunkier than what I am used to using, but I had no issues with it getting into my eyes or causing any discomfort.
The packaging of this collection is just as beautiful as the actual products. These come inside of a small drawer that is made out of very sturdy cardboard. The primary colors are pink and plum with gold accents. It would look beautiful sitting out on a vanity.

I'm happy I decided to get this. I have used it a lot already and will continue to use it. The Nutcracker Sweet Gift Sets are currently 25% off. This set is out of stock on M.A.C's site, but you should be able to find it in stores. I know my local Belk still had it as of last night. The sale price is $26.25 and they were $25. Belk also has an awesome sale going on right now where if you spend $100 in beauty (online and in store), you can get $20 off. Hurry, though. That sale ends today!
I do have the Bronze set coming, so I will try to get swatches of that up as soon as it arrives.
