Real Italian Mom (and Dad!) Street Style

The Reason They Dressed

It’s a Christmas Eve tradition here in Modena to have an aperitivo at the Bar Sciavoni outside the Albinelli Market.  I spotted this stylish couple with their two kids having a pre-lunch drink and listening to some live Motown.

This music even outside of the Bar Schiavoni is a Modena tradition on Christmas Eve.  Tomorrow I’ll show you what I wore to the event plus lots of pictures.

I love that Italians are lovers of tradition, and that their traditions are not limited to things they do in the house with family.  Their ideas of “entertaining” expand beyond their homes.  Before a Christmas Eve dinner with the family they take a moment to slow down, meet with friends for a glass of wine, do last minute grocery shopping for fresh bread and vegetables at the market and listen to some music.

The band played some seriously amazing, energy filled motown, and I was there with my husband and toddler, we met two other couples of our friends and were offered wine and I happen to notice this stylish family.  They were laughing together and chatting with the people around them.

What They Wore

They have very different styles between them.  In this case, I was totally impressed with the dad’s style.  A plaid shirt, lot s of rings, great hat, awesome beard, cargo pants and a jean shirt and black puffer coat.  His wife was a little more boho.  She looked great as well but HE stole the show!

Actually he is inspiration for a new series you’ll see in 2014 Real Dad Street Style.  Oh dear get ready for it!
