It’s not often that I abdicate and simply re-post someone else’s writing, but this blog post by Nathaniel Broughton said it all, and said it well.
You should expect to be Googled and to Google people you’re going to meet. As Broughton mentions in his post, your conversation will be much better much faster if you can say, “I really liked the article you wrote on…” rather than simply commenting on the weather. You should master the skills of finding people – and the skills it takes to be found. What does your online footprint look like?
