Random Friday: My Summer Paylist

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
One of the only things I like about summer is driving around listening to fun, upbeat songs.  Most people are probably listening to the most current, hot songs. As for me, I couldn't even tell you what those songs are.  A lot of drivers in Atlanta seem to be under the false assumption that other people want to hear their music, but mine is better. So here are my favorite songs for summer (be prepared for some flashbacks):
1.) The Animal Song by Savage Garden
This is an incredibly fun song that is perfect for blaring in your car with the windows down.  It has a very freeing feel to it and you just cannot help but sing along. I listened to it three times just this afternoon.

2.) Dreamer by Elizaveta
Elizaveta is an incredible talent. She has an amazing voice and she combines classical and pop.  This song demonstrates all of the above perfectly.  Be prepared to feel incredibly optimistic, and perhaps a bit childlike.

3.) Anything Could Happen by Ellie Goulding
This is one of the few current songs that I do like.  After listening to it, I feel like I can take on anything.  Of course I am always disappointed that nothing amazing happens after the song finishes. But if I had my own show, there is a good chance this would be my theme song.  After all, Ellie never specifies of the "anything" that "could happen" is good or bad.

4.) Les Amants de Paris by Edith Piaf
Edith Piaf is a music legend. And even though I do not speak a word of French, I still understand her music because she sings with such emotion.   This song makes yo feel like you are walking in gardens in the middle of spring and spending the afternoon in a Parisian cafe with someone special.  And yes, I do drive around with this on full blast.

5.) Me Gustas Tanto by Paulina Rubio
Unlike French, I actually understand a lot of Spanish.  This is a fun, upbeat, dance song mixed with a sweet love song. Even if you don't know Spanish, I think you will still like it.

6.) Black Sheep by Gin Wigmore
I say it is time to add some edge to this list.  Gin has a unique voice that is perfectly suited for this song.  This isn't a song that I relate to at all, but the edge is what makes it fun.

7.) Fantasy by Mariah Carey
This is one of the gems from the 90's.  I dare you not to sing along.  Even someone as quite as myself cannot resist.

There you have it, some of my favorite summer time songs.  As you can see, I have a wide variety of tastes. With the exception of rap and country. I just can't do it.  My plan is to take this post a step farther and do looks inspired by each of the songs. What do you think? Yay or nay?
