Quick Review: Kat Von D Esperanza Palette

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
This was one of those palettes I couldn't wait to get my hands on. What isn't to like? There is a lovely array of shades and the packaging is awesome.  Sadly, it did not quite work for me.
Shades

 Selena: lavender with turquoise shimmer
Dayglo: transforming shade. adds a duochrome element to the shadows
Galore: light peach pearl
Pacebo: matte coral
Santeria: glittery grey-green
Archangel: sea foam green
South: Matte Beige
Dog Roses: shimmery bronze
Selena and Santeria are the stand out shades of the palette.  Placebo and Galore are also very pretty.  Dayglo was a neat addition to the palette.  I loved it over Selena and Santeria.  It actually toned down the glitter and added a cool greenish-gold sheen.  It even made an easily dupeable shade like Dog Roses a little more unique.

Top to bottom: Placebo, Galore, Dayglo, Selena

I feel that this palette is mediocre compared to the Spellbinding Palette and her True Romance palettes.  They have a nice, smooth texture but they are fairly powdery and make a mess in the palette.  Fallout is something that doesn't bother me, but it is worth mentioning as I know it can be bothersome to others.  The shimmer shades do cause a bit of fallout, so be careful when applying.  I also think that the pigment for some of the shades is a little lackluster.  I had to do build up a few of the shades so that they could be photographed.  But they are very long lasting shadows.  They lasted through a long day of work with no fading or creasing. I do think that this is not a palette for us fair skinned gals.  The shades are too pastel and made me look very washed out.  Not a good look at all.  But for those of you with darker skin, I think it will look lovely.
One of the best things about this palette is the packaging.  It is perfect for spring because of the bright colors and flowers.  But the sugar skull adds a touch of edge.  The Esperanza Palette is $36 at Sephora.
