Questions for Reflecting on Awe

By Andrewtix

In her book, “Positivity,” pioneering positive psychologist Barbara Fredrickson encourages individuals to reflect on the questions below, using as much sensory detail as possible, as a way to rekindle feelings of awe that you may have experienced in the past. You might consider writing about them in a journal, blog, or social media platform, or discussing them in a small group gathering.

  1. When have you felt intense wonder or amazement, truly in awe of your surroundings?
  2. When have you felt overwhelmed by greatness, or by beauty on a grand scale?
  3. When have you been stopped in your tracks, transfixed by grandeur?
  4. When have you felt part of something much larger than yourself?
