Quack Quack – Phil Robertson Gets Suspended by A&E

I don’t normally post about television shows, let alone Reality TV. But a recent GQ article with Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson and his suspension by A&E from the hit show Duck Dynasty made me want to give my opinion on this mess.

First his comments. 100% protected under the First Amendment. The man has freedom of speech and nobody should deny him that. I’m noticing a lot of new Facebook groups popping up about how he’s being stifled or punished for his freedom of speech. Those people are idiots.

He is being suspended by A&E because he is damaging to the brand of a popular TV show and the network on which it is played. Nobody took away what he said, hell it was published in a well known magazine. You don’t have to agree with what he said that’s not the point, he WAS allowed to say it. No matter how much of a douchebag I may think the old geezer is, he has his freedom of speech.

Why would A&E want to have continued backlash over 1 cast member of a wildly popular reality show?

They wouldn’t, and they suspended him for it. Will the family rebel now and say F the show? I’m going to guess YES. After all without Phil none of this is possible and I do believe his family is loyal to him (and probably just as nuts). Just because you have Freedom of Speech does not mean you can say whatever the hell you want 24/7 and have no repercussions for it. The notion of him running around spilling his gospel which really sounded a lot more like hate speech and just slide back into his comfy camo chair is nuts. Don’t tell me it’s all bible verses that’s bullshit. When did he become the Mister Rogers of the bible? Story time with Phil? Yikes!!

In his own words he was a womanizing druggie in the 60s so maybe his brain and values got a little damaged along the way.

If Phil Robertson wants to live like it’s the 1800′s as a pioneer that’s great for him. Then stay deep in the Louisiana woods and tell your hunting buddies about all the different kinds of people who you think are ungodly. Duck Dynasty is a reality show, and like ALL of the reality shows eventually something new comes along to replace it. Maybe Phil just wants out, he’s a smart enough guy to know that interview would trigger this kind of media backlash.

Remember people, Phil Robertson’s claim to fame is tricking birds he wants to fuck them and then shoots them out of the sky!!

I mean really Phil, glass houses and all that shit you happy happy happy weirdo.
