Porefessional : Anti-shine Control

By Beautybykaris @beautybykaris

Hey there,

So a while ago now, almost immediately after the launch of the Porefessional Powder, I picked myself up one – eager to try a powder for the first time ever! With a lot of love for Benefit, I thought I couldn’t go too wrong.

Up until around the end of 2013, I never even wore foundation, (I can see your shocked faces now), so it is only natural that I have become more curious of  complimentary products, such as primers and powders. Being a fan of the Porefessional primer, I had already put this powder up on a pedestal. All I was hoping for was a more matte and flawless look, and something to help set my make up in place for the day ahead.

I know Benefit don’t exactly run a ‘cheap’ make up line, but even when I paid £23.50 for this powder, I walked away with slight fear in me. 9 times out of 10, once I have got over the ‘how much did I just pay’ factor, I end up falling in love with my Benefit products. But not this one!!

The Porefessional Agent Shine Control powder, comes in a fun and cheeky packaging, (I wouldn’t expect anything less from Benefit), probably the only thing it’s got going for it! It has a nifty little screw top, and hidden powder brush, which slots in perfectly at the bottom, (Which would of been an ideal handbag partner – If I even liked the product). The powder appears creamy beige in colour, but applies transparent. According to Benefit you just, ‘Twist, Tap and Sweep’

.

To be perfectly honest, this powder just was not up to standards. Yeah OK, it gave my skin a slightly more matte look, and maybe my expectations were too high, but for £23.50 this powder is a rip off in my eyes. I know I haven’t got anything else to compare it to, but I’m pretty certain I would probably get the same look from a £3.00 bargain powder, as I did from this so called ‘incredible’ multi purpose powder. It certainly won’t have me running back to the shops for it. I will however, be on the hunt for a budget alternative, to see how well that works in comparison. What a waste of money! To top it off, the Benebabe who sold it to me, told me I wouldn’t have to use much at all, ‘just a couple of taps’. Well, I suppose I have got to hand it to her it was a good sale technique, but not true!

(The before picture is how my skin looks just using Porefessional primer under Hello Flawless foundation)
