POND’s Flawless White BB Cream SPF 30 | Photogenic Dupe for My Shiseido Hydrating BB Cream

By Blessmybag @blessmybag

This is practically the first POND's review I have ever done, because this product gets a huge thumbs up from normal-to-sensitive-combo-skin me. I put this review up quickly because it looks so good in photos, and I keep checking myself in the mirror 'coz I'm pretty impressed I'm totally ignoring the fact that it's a whitening product. It just looks exceptionally good and photogenic on the face for a grocery and department store brand base. It not sticky, not greasy and lifts the complexion when you put it on and I'm surprised the Light shade which looks a wrong sort of grey tone before application actually helps counteract sallow tones on my face (if we're talking perfect shade I'm a blend of both shades but I like how Light lifts my face in appearance, but I mix a little bit of Beige in). For normal skin gals, you won't even need to set it with powder, maybe at the very least just have blot sheets handy this summer if you use this.

"Looking for the best BB Cream*? The Pond's Institute developed Pond's Flawless White BB+ Cream (Php299.00)-a whitening cream and lightweight foundation in one-giving both skin care and makeup benefits. Use Pond's BB+ Cream to achieve a flawless, no-makeup look. Special Ingredient

GenActiv™

Two potent ingredients, Niacinamide and 12HSA, regulate the genes that control melanin production.
  • Compared to other BB Creams, it is less likely to cause pimples because it's less sticky and helps control oil the whole day. No need to apply powder afterwards.
  • Compared to a CC Cream, it gives better coverage without the sticky feeling, aside from Pond's expert skin care formula.

I like Pond's as a brand and all their efforts to bring new affordable products out, it's just that my mareklamo face usually doesn't do too well with a few of the other products they have that are scented, but like for example who doesn't love their classic Cold Cream? This BB Cream base is scented, but not heavily, I had to swatch, smell, and repeat to really spot how much fragrance was in there, not that much, thankfully. The proof is in the pudding, you just really need to see, how it looks once applied. It's a sheer to medium coverage, if you have troubled skin or redness it will still need help from a good concealer over those areas. I really misjudged the Light shade which works so well at neutralizing too much yellow on my face, balancing that and bringing the undertone closer to the skin on my neck which is more pale. Classic BB creams from Korea and Japan also come in this greyish tone, some to my knowledge self-adjust once applied over the skin. I don't know what this does but seriously if you are a normal to combination skin type in the shade MAC NC30 upwards, POND's BB shade- Light may most likely work well for you even if it looks grey in the swatch. See for yourself.

Base: POND's Flawless White BB Cream in Light (with a very small drop of Beige), Brows: K-Palette Eyebrow duo pen, Lashes: Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Edge Meister Waterproof Mascara (tube with pink butterflies) from SM Beauty/Watsons, Lips: CoverGirl LipPerfection balm crayon in 240 (a soft satin coral) from SM Beauty/Landmark, Cream blush: Ellana Minerals "ILLUSION".

And interestingly enough, I spotted this next photo online, it's a screenshot of a Caucasian YouTuber who tried Pond's Flawless White BB as well, video at this link. Obviously she uses the shade Light.

The big plus for me is it photographs beautifully with a satin finish in natural light (not SPF tested with flash) and seems to be a dupe of my current favorite luxury BB Cream, the Shiseido Hydrating one which was featured over a year and a half ago on Into the Gloss. The only thing my Shiseido BB has over this I guess is a formula more suited for sensitive skin which I can use daily (I'm not yet 100% sure how my skin would react if I used the Pond's one everyday for a couple of weeks) and that the Shiseido Hydrating BB shade Medium is perfect for me and it comes in a slimmer tube for travel. To round it up I think the Ponds Flawless White BB Cream is an excellent base product to check out at the grocery or department store. It isn't a new release but for the price I can certainly see why Heart Evangelista gave this her stamp of approval.
