Picnic on the Island ~ Weekend in Review

By Laura @BEBookworm

On Saturday, a few friends and I headed over to Hanlan’s Point on the Toronto Island for a vegan potluck picnic. I didn’t have an advance ticket so I showed up early to wait in the LONG line. Luckily, it moved quite quickly and I was ready and waiting 20 minutes before we were suppose to meet. Good thing I brought my Kobo!

Some, but not all, of our picnic fare. Lots of vegan mayo was consumed, but it was oh so good! I brought potato salad and the pickled wild leeks I canned.

Fun times playing Time’s Up. It was such a beautiful day and I’m glad I got to spend it with beautiful (inside and out!) people! Plus all the food for the picnic was fantastic!

I’ve mentioned that we got a van, but here she is, in all her glory. Ain’t she a beaut?

Delicious raspberries, ripe for the picking (and free) at Corktown Common.

We decided to go to Magic Oven for a bit of a date night. Too bad my pizza came the first time with mozzarella on it and I had to send it back. Second time was made right though.

While eating on the Magic Oven patio, we noticed we had some spectators! A raccoon family was peering down at us for quite a while. Sorry, buddies, no leftovers!

Sunday morning breakfast with some of those yummy raspberries. Huzzah for free, foraged food!

This is what vegan gardeners impulse-buy at Home Depo. Our very own blueberry bush. We have an extra big pot to transplant it to until we have some land of our own to plant it on.
