Peter Kernel: The Size Of The Night

Swiss/Canadian indie art pop duo Peter Kernel take idiosyncratic music to the next level on their new album The Size Of The Night. Jagged rhythms clash with spoken word, country noir played on synths meets Belly, vaudeville joins Talking Heads, all this and more are allowed in their search for something fresh and skewed.

Aris Bassetti and Barbara Lehnhoff tried their damnedest to defy pigeonholing and came out on top. At first it may seem that they don't know what the fuck they want to prove, but then it becomes clear they looked inside themselves and found a bunch of dark and nasty things. Those could only be tamed - sort of - by capturing into them music. Not just the nightmares though - there is space for dreams of a less troubling nature. The Size Of The Night is captivating and scary, a journey to the dark side. The signposts are not particularly helpful, but following them always leads to intriguing discoveries.

The Size Of The Night is released thru On the Camper Records. Release date: March 9.
