Penguin 3.0 – What is Affected?

After doing some preliminary research on the roll-out of Google’s Penguin 3.0 update we have identified a few key factors that they have targeted. It’s all still so fresh so YMMV in what may be affecting your websites.

Here’s a basic list of what Penguin 3.0 has hit:

  • Web 2.0’s (Non-niche specifically)
  • Spam (SENuke, UltimateDemon, Magic Submitter, etc.)
  • Forum / Profile Spam

Poor quality seems to have been hit the hardest which absolutely makes sense from Google’s perspective. Some in the SEO community are experiencing enormous hits (aka the ones who built their networks on the back of spam and junk links) while many who have been building their sites the right way (aka the way we build at Super Villain Marketing) have not been hit nearly as hard or in many cases not hit at all! Kudos to those who came out clean, you are the real SEO’s building empires of value.

SEO’s building spam-backed tiered networks just had the floor pulled out from under them overnight and now the real work begins. How will you recover? For the local business owner, if you hired a SEO/Marketing company that built everything proper for you chances are you are fine or even gaining rank amongst your competition.

For the others who just fell off the chart after paying an SEO Company a truckload of cash over the years, maybe consider contacting us.
