This year between Black Friday and Cyber Monday Americans spent a record $7 billion while shopping. Billion. That is incredible! You know what I did? I went to Marshall's and bought three cashmere sweaters. I'm living life on the edge, clearly. 😂
In addition to stocking up my wardrobe with timeless and classic pieces, I've also decided to focus on the items that have sentimental meaning. More and more I am finding that getting dressed in the morning is so much easier if I can reach for the items that make me happy.
Take paisley this dress for example: I purchased it as a gift to myself for my birthday while in Paris last year. I had arrived to the city a good 8 hours early for my Air BnB check in. The owner had been kind enough to store my luggage for me, but I didn't have the time, or the nerve to ask if I could change into more suitable clothing. I was still in my travel clothes, which meant layers and comfortable walking shoes. If you've been to Paris in August, you'll know that I was soon sweltering from the heat. So I purchased this cotton dress at a darling little boutique that I'll likely never find again. I walked out wearing it, carrying my travel clothing in the shopping bag.
That's one of my favorite things to do while traveling - to purchase something that can be worn right away. It makes me feel as though I instantly belong; that in some small way, I have become a local with that one singular purchase.
My shoes are Musse & Cloud -  the braided details, with just a hint of Western flare looks so good with dresses. I'm currently on the hunt for the perfect pair of baby flares (I'm thinking dark burgundy corduroy) - once found, I will definitely be pairing them with the shoes! Can you imagine? Instant cuteness.
