Palette

If you don't know who IU is then you are really missing out.

IU is Korean solo artist known for her innocent look and beautiful voice. She is also a great actress, what I have heard.

At the beginning of the year, she released her album Palette, which was a hit! I was not a huge fan of the title track (Palette), Jam Jam was the best song in my opinion, however, I adored her music video.

The music video was very fresh with the white elements and the saturated pops of color, and her makeup mirrored that.

I tried to recreate it, but I fell a bit flat. I was still really happy with how it turned out. I will also have to let you know that I did not add a blurring filter to my skin. It is all because I bought a new ring light for my camera and it does the work for me!

The makeup focused heavily on dewy skin, a very blatant highlight, and the glossy coral lips.

Obviously, I could not recreate the exact look and I ran into some hiccups along the way, but overall, I think it came out well.

I first applied a light dusting of face powder for oil control purposes. I used the Maybelline Shine Free Powder in Medium. I used two primers, the first one was a sample of the MAC Prep+Prime and the second was the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser for my pores.

Then I applied the Glossier Face Tint in Medium. I APPLIED A LOT! It is very sheer, so I think I applied A LOT. I was not trying to cover anything with this, but rather I was trying to build up a dewy finish. Once I achieved my desired dew, I went in with the Glossier Stretch Concealer in Medium and applied it on any pimples/ hyperpigmentation.

For eyes, I kept it somewhat simple. I applied Naked 2 from the UD Basics Palette, only to the area where my eyeliner extends out. Then I used my MAC 217 brush (forgetting that it was dirty with crease colors) and used it apply W.O.S, from the same palette on my lid. My eyelids were darkened, so I tried to fix it with UD Basic's Foxy, but I decided to jump into the original UD Naked Palette and apply Virgin. It was still dark, but I rolled with it.

The saga continues...

For eyeliner, I used an eyeliner brush and applied my Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner. I tried to make the line as thin as possible, as well as having the wing pointed downwards. Something IU normally does.

I skipped curling my lashes and applied my Elf Lengthening Mascara to my top eyelashes only.

For cheeks, I used the Canmake Cream Blush in 07. I applied it very lightly. As for highlight, I used my MAC Cream Colour Base in Pearl as a strong highlight, which I eventually went over with the Hourglass' Ambient Lighting Powder in Iridescent Light.

For lips, I created the gradient with my YSL Glossy Lip Tint in 31 ( an all-time favorite of mine). It is a coral color. After, I applied my Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Pink Pop.

Then, of course, I sprayed a ton of MAC Fix+.

Overall, I really enjoyed creating this makeup look. I definitely need to go over this look one more time and clean up some of the steps to make more wearable for the day to day. However, it is very pretty and looks very natural.

If you enjoyed this post, tell me in the comments if you like IU or what makeup to recreate next.

As always, show lots of love and support to IU in the future!

Happy Friday ^_^
