Now the truth of the matter is this White Tea Skin Guardian DOES FEEL AND SMELL NICE when you apply it, and as they described, “Smoothness is immediate”…that’s the silicon working for you. To be honest, products that contain silicon possess a form of trickery. As a consumer when you feel that “instant glide” and silkiness from fingers to face you straightaway want to believe it’s the key botanicals mentioned in the product doing their job on the spot and I’m not here to say that they aren’t, they’re just not what you instantly feel. Silicon tells your fingers “This my friends, is amazing…” and though silicon won’t kill you, it isn’t for everybody and for some who are allergic to it may even cause breakouts.

I’ve reviewed something similar to this before, the Body Shop Seaweed Pore Perfector which is more affordable, but there are also more expensive ones like the Becca Line and Pore Corrector, Benefit Porefessional (which more appropriately positions itself as a primer) and I’ve even sampled Estee Lauder Idealist which is a more glorified luxury option. Some of these are the sorts of products that end up being increasingly difficult to blog about about simply because in the end you can’t say what they are essentially without REACHING for what to say and then you backspace realizing there don’t seem to be any significant, realistic long-term benefits for the skin. These are incredibly difficult products to describe in a nutshell. The package has more recently changed abroad and now looks like this on the website anyway. I honestly have fallen for the scent…it’s a creamier scent that that of the Body Shop’s Seaweed Pore Perfector (which I now feel is a bit too strongly scented) and I’m not allergic to this so far plus it feels milder than the Body Shop’s Seaweed one. To me though it’s a pretty good primer with a healthy helping of botanicals as a bonus, but that’s pretty much it for me nothing more. I refrain from actually calling products like this “serums” simply because there don’t seem to be any active and deeply penetrating ingredients that build and work with the skin to give compound results. However, cons and non-dermatologist me aside, to be honest I can’t escape the glee that comes with reviewing a product by the brand Origins for the first time. I’m only somewhat disappointed that it had to be this product from their Perfect World range…and if it truly were a “Guardian” so to speak, shouldn’t it contain some form of SPF or anti-zit ingredients? I saw you nodding while reading this and I thought so, too. On a brighter note, I’ll be using this in my pro kit as a great smelling prepping primer for skin that needs it.
