Once a Cheat, Always a Cheat

Love rats – I truly believe they will never learn or mend their ways.  My musings come on the back of the news that Anthea Turner’s husband Grant Bovey has been caught snogging an interior designer half his age.  Anthea has reportedly thrown him out – but I wonder how surprised she really is?  Let’s not forget the seedy circumstances in which this couple got together – both were married, the foursome was a cosy friendship – until Anthea and Grant dumped their partners for one another.  Nice.

If I sound a little, um, annoyed, it probably doesn’t help that I recently found out that a man I was seeing was married.  Luckily I found out early on and in spite of his pleas, I knew what I had to do.  He fed me the usual lines about being trapped and unhappy and how he would leave his wife for me, but I didn’t buy it and nor did I want to play any part in wrecking a family – but even more than that, I knew I could never truly trust him.  If he had the lack of moral fiber to stay faithful once, then I am pretty damned sure he would cheat again if he wanted to.  Yes, I’ve been cheated on before and it sucks.  I am not going down that path again if I can possibly help it.

I know sometimes people fall out of love and find themselves sexually attracted to another person – that’s life, sadly.  But what angers me is all the secrecy and sneaking around.   Grant should have had the balls to be up front with Anthea, before getting involved with this young heiress.  But I’m fast coming to the conclusion that too many men want to have their cake, and eat it…
