Sorry to those interested in getting this it isn’t available locally, it’s sold in Boots in the UK, I put out a search on Ebay for it last year and was blessed to have found a reliable seller at the time plus the expiration date was nearly 2 years away so it was certainly new stock.  Truth is, because I do have random bouts with my skin I am sort of a face cream junkie (bitter memory of a thrown out unfinished tub of MooGoo floats by, it turned out to be too rich for a tropical zone) and at first when I got this Oilatum one I didn’t like it the first time around, because at first I thought it was also just a bit too rich, though not as rich as Embryolisse which I like.  I thought it was making my skin react at first but I was not sure because I was switching products around  at the time.  Now I’ve rediscovered it and found out its use for other skin conditions, and am so glad I got it.  Read more for the full post with ingredients and what got this back in my bag.

When I first tried this product last year I think my face just had too many products on rotation at the time because I was wearing makeup more often, switching makeup removers and cleansers (in my search to find what worked) and so when I tried this on I had a subtle rash and it wasn’t soothing.  It turned out to be a mere case of chemical clashing, too much too soon.  So this sat for several months in my unused product tray but I did tell myself I’d try it again when I was using less products.  Of course I quickly forgot about that half-hearted vow.  The last three days, as I mentioned in my last post, were days of sun exposure for me and my family because of my brother’s football tournament.  I put on sunscreen of course and my favorite Shiseido Sun Protection Foundation on top.

My Dad (far right in black) however DID NOT PUT SUNSCREEN on the first day and he was assistant pa to the coaches for listing down player substitutions.  That means he got a WHOLE LOTTA SUN.  In short, he got burnt.  I won’t be putting a close-up photo here, he’s just pretty much dark and red.  On the second day of the 3-day tournament I gave him sunscreen but the damage had already been done.

INGREDIENTS:  Aqua, Olea Europeae, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Palm Glycerides, Olus, Oleic Triglycerides, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Squalane, Betaine, Palmitamide MEA, Acetamide MEA, Sarcosine, Hydroxyethycellulose, Sodium Carbomer, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum

The texture isn’t greasy or oily but it is a dense moisturizer.  I gave Dad Oilatum cream the other night and last night, last night he oooh-ed and aaahh-ed when he put this cream all over his face during dinner time, he said super out loud without my asking anything that it gave instant relief and really made it feel better.  He was praising the product so much mom had to have a look at the tube and to think it isn’t even an after-sun product, but I do know that the cream absorbs really quickly into the skin.  Two nights ago from the first day of the tournament I lent this tube of cream also to three of my brother’s teammates who slept over at our house, they all, excluding my brother, did not apply sunblock (nako).  Two of them applied Oilatum Natural Repair Face Cream on their toasty red faces before bed and they looked way better the next morning.  Hence, this is a great after sun cream or 1st-degree burn soother.

I’m betting it’s also great relief for that tight itchy point after sunburn right before you begin peeling.  Of course after all the praise for this long forgotten purchase of mine I applied the cream to the toasty points on my face that weren’t burned but just a bit sun-kissed (apples of cheeks, nose, chin).  I got no reaction like before just soft, hydrated skin the next day without redness or irration.  In the UK, this is avaiable at Boots pharmacy for about £7-£9 British pounds.  In the U.S. you can try Amazon, for everywhere else I saw some listings on Ebay but they’re quite overpriced.  I don’t quite remember how much I paid on Ebay for this because it was so long ago I’ve forgotten, it was about Php900 for this 50ml tube I think, original price in pesos would’ve been anywhere between Php600-Php700.  You can watch Nicola rave about this cream moisturizer in the video below.
