NBC Remaking Bad Girls

The Office, Skins, Shameless, Being Human, Men Behaving Badly. All popular British sitcoms and dramas that have sailed across the pond, been snapped up, loved and ultimately re-made for an American audience with varying levels of success (or not). The latest in this long-line of attempts is ITV1's gritty prison drama that sucked so many of us in, throughout the early part of the 2000's; Bad Girls.
With strong and often scary, characters such as Shell Dockley, the popular show ran for eight seasons from 1999, until bowing out in 2006. Right from Day One, Bad Girls tackled some pretty gritty storylines including suicide, murder and lesbian affairs and has been aired right across the globe.
With My Name is Earl star Jaime Pressly apparently attached to the pilot of the new show, it'll be curious to see how NBC translates it for an America audience, and I wonder if they'll go down the gritty or the more comedic route, or even if it'll be able to match the popularity of the original. But I can't help feeling like this might be one to watch (when it finally gets off the ground).
