My Take On YouTube's Highlighter Challenge

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
I'm sure you have heard about this highlighter challenge, and you might even be sick of it. But I wanted to try it out for myself and see what it looked like. I made my version a bit more subdued and daytime appropriate just in case I did have to venture out of the house today. By the way, NikkieTutorials has the best version of this. That isn't really shocking, though. Anywho, keep on reading to see what I used for the highlighter challenge.

Products Used:
  • For my primers, I used Becca's Backlight Priming Filter followed by City Color's Glowing Complexion Illuminating Cream
  • I used the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation Stick and concealed using Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser.
  • To set everything, I used Catrice Cosmetics Highlighting Powder in Champagne Campaign.

  • I primed my eyes using the Milani Eyeshadow Primer and applied Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop on the lid. In the crease I used a combination of Mimosa (from the ABH Glow Kit in Gleam) and Makeup Geek's Foiled Shadow in Mesmerized.  To highlight the inner corner, I used the orange highlighting shade from the e.l.f Illuminating Palette. On the brow bone, I used the highlighter from Catrice's Prime and Fine Contouring Palette in Ashy Radiance. My mascara is L'Oreal's Telescopic in Carbon Black.
  • For my blush, I used a combination of Hard Candy and Mimosa from the ABH Glow Kit in Gleam.
  • To highlight, I used Crushed Pearl from the ABH Glow Kit in Gleam topped with Urban Decay's Afterglow Highlighter in Sin. I also used a little bit of Sin on the cupid's bow.
  • For my lips I decided to use a mate liquid lipstick for three reasons: it was new, there was I chance I would have to go out in public, and I liked the little bit of contrast between glowy and matte. The shade I used was Milani's Amore Matte Lip Creme in Precious. I tried adding some shimmer and shine to it, but I just wasn't feeling it.
  • And last but not least, I filled in by brows using Benefit's Goof Proof Brow Pencil.
  • I also sprayed a generous amount of Mario Badescu's Rose Facial Mist to make things look seamless and even more fresh.

I didn't know what to expect, but I really like the end result. I feel like my version is much more wearable vs looking like an extra for the tin man in The Wizard of Oz. But you still get the full effect of the highlighters. I also tried to include as many different ones as possible along with using higher end products and drugstore products. Of course if you are oily like myself, you pretty much look like this all of the time anyway.
I hope you enjoyed this post and have a great weekend!
