My New Favorite Food Place and Other Fun Weekend Stuff

By Crossstitchyourheart @TMNienaber

Good morning blog friends!  I hope you all have a good week ahead of you.  While things didn’t work out with the original job of the Odyssey of the Job I have an interview later today and just received an email for another later in the month so at least the hope hasn’t died completely (and if I’m lucky the job today will work out and I can get to working instead of interviewing).  But enough about the job hunt.  I’ve managed to read a lot more books this summer and because I’ve already got a month of reviews stacked up I’m going from one review a week to two (at least for the summer) so keep an eye out for those later this week!  As much as I love going to the library I get a little depressed because there are so many books I want to read and not nearly enough time to read them all.  Any other bibliophiles have this problem?

I also have cross stitch updates for you today, but nothing too impressive right now.

the beginning of the left side of the pattern, getting close to the finish!

This is the only picture I took for today and I’m not sure why, probably because I feel like I didn’t make a lot of progress.  I’ve also realized that I don’t work my patterns in the traditional way.  I start at the bottom left corner of the pattern and then work over and up instead of at the center like you’re supposed to.  I’m not sure why I do this, I guess because I end up with so much extra fabric on one end it’s easier to recycle into a bigger project?  Or it’s just a bad habit.  Who knows.

Alright, on to my favorite part of the weekend.  My dad and I went out for lunch last Friday and discovered one of the most interesting restaurants I’ve been to in a while.  It’s called “Cheeburger Cheeburger” and has been around forever, so it’s really just new to me, but it’s one of those places where you walk in and just feel happy.

I cut out the bottom of the picture because there were people from the table behind me in it.

Here’s a picture of the decor, it’s the best one I could take without getting up and walking around with my phone and drawing attention to myself.  Yes, there is a lot of pink, but it’s really not over powering when you sit down. It’s decorated like an old diner and they serve classic “American” food, most notably the 75 different flavors of milkshakes that can be mixed-n-matched.

milk-shake served in classic, chilled-metal. How retro

This is my dad’s milkshake, I got mine in a to-go cup so it didn’t look as fancy, but with temperatures up at 106 F it was sure good…

Food, glorious food

Here’s our food.  With a meal you got a burger, fries, and a salad which ended up being way too much to eat at once but I did my best.  Everything was very tasty and the servers made sure we never ran out of water or ketchup.  It’s a little on the expensive side but you get plenty of food and lots of options. The atmosphere was what really sold me though, a little over the top probably, but it was just a lot of fun.

Well, now that I’ve managed to make myself hungry before it’s anywhere near time to think about lunch I think it’s time to go make another cup of coffee.  Hope you all have a fabulous week.  Read a good book, do something crafty, or go get a milkshakes.
