My Love For Makeup

By Hollysbeautybox @hollysbeautybox
Whilst I'm sharing the love, I thought I would do a post all about my love for makeup.

It started out when I was around 10 - yes, that early! My friends and I had a band called "all four" yes, we really were that cool and I remember thinking, "If I want to be seen as a pop star, I better start looking like one" and so I delved into the little compact makeup kits Santa got me at Christmas time and started experimenting - only to be told the next day at school that I needed to remove it because makeup was banned from primary school. (Say whaaaaat!?)
My next door neighbor and one of my closest friends was three years older than me and was already into applying makeup and always looked amazing, so I took tips from her and would enjoy playing around with makeup to see how my face would look with a different color of eyeshadow.
the love began at an early age, but I can assure you, the 'talent' of mastering makeup certainly did not - think blue eyeshadow, no blending brush, black eyeliner, blue mascara and wayyyyy too much blusher. Yup, that look.
As I grew up I used makeup to hide the fact that I was overweight. I figured that if everyone was looking at my face, then no-one would notice the size of my thunder thighs or bingo wings. Back then, I wasn't the positive, body confident person that I am now. I was ashamed of my size and would do anything to detract from it.
Moving into my early twenties, makeup became my passion. Friends and family often asked me to do their makeup for them and I was obsessed with knowing all about the products I was using and new tricks on how to use them, I soon became a bit of an amateur expert and as I started my blog, my love for makeup grew to the point that I have more blushers than friends - haha!
Now, I use makeup to enhance myself rather than mask who I am.  I use makeup to make myself feel like the best version of myself but I know that even without makeup, I'm good enough.
My love for makeup has helped make me who I am today I suppose - as silly as that may sound! Speaking of, if you are like me and spend all your money on makeup, rather that bigger expenses like beds and electricals, you might want to click here.
