We all have hobbies. Some work on cars / motorcycles and others workout 4 hours a day. Foodies, techies, bookies (the reading kind), gamers.. you name it. There is something for everyone out there today more than ever before since you can learn just about anything there is on the good old internet.
For me it was almost a decade ago when I first got interested in puppetry. You never see me really talk about it here since my sense of humor is dark but it’s been a big enough part of my life it makes sense to let these two aspects cross-over here on Steve Online. My puppetry site is Rotten Puppets and it’s certainly more of a dark/dirty humor place.
Over the years I’ve designed and built 20+ puppet characters, 1 fully completed mascot named Wolfun, and 2 mascots way way down in the development cycle mainly due to lack of time. That’s pretty much what took me away from puppetry the last few years now that Alyssa is here.. just not enough hours in the day.
I’m going to talk more about Rotten Puppets, what got me into it, and maybe some basic things you can do with your kids to enjoy and experience puppetry even if it’s not a full scale “muppet style” character. Until then here is a little gallery from some of my creations to wet your whistle
