My Hair Care Routine

By Misssarahlouise

I won't lie and write a huge post about how much effort I put into my haircare routine, I will be truthful and say straight up that I am very lazy with my hair. About 3 years ago, my silly teenage self made the decision to get my hair cut very short, to just above my shoulders. I loved it for about 2 months and then began to hate it, so since then I've grown it out. It's now just above my bum, and as it's grown it has become thicker and thicker. So today I'm going to talk you through what I do, and the products that I use.

Tresemme Moisturising Shampoo I like to stick to the same brand as I have quite a sensitive scalp. I love Tresemme as it has amazing benefits for my hair, and as they do 900ml bottles - it lasts me for months! I use a moisturising shampoo to nourish my hair, and to also make sure that it gets a nice deep clean. I apply a medium sized blob to my palm and massage into the roots, as my hair is so long I start at the roots and work my way down. I spend a good 5 minutes doing this to make sure that every millimetre of my hair gets washed. I then rinse this out thoroughly with warm water, I tend to spend a while rinsing to make sure I get all of the shampoo out.
Tresemme Moisturising ConditionerOnce all of the shampoo is removed, I apply a 50p sized blob of conditioner to my palms, I then work this through the ends of my hair. First of all I roughly apply it with my fingers. Then I take a wide toothed comb and comb the conditioner through. I find that this makes my hair feel much softer, and helps to keep the frizz away. About once a week, I apply a thick layer of conditioner all over my hair, and wrap it up in a towel for around 30 minutes. I like to think of this as a hair mask, I find it gives my hair a real good condition and stops it getting so tangled from day to day.

VO5 'Plump It Up Blow dry' SprayAfter I have washed my hair, I wrap it up in a towel for around half an hour. I then take it out of the towel and use my amazing Tangle Teezer to brush through my hair. I then spritz some blow dry spray through my roots. I love this spray as it really does help to boost the roots of my hair, and gives it a thicker, fuller feel. I then tip my head upside down and blow dry my hair until the roots are dry, this usually takes about 15 minutes. I find that drying my hair upside down helps to add more volume to the roots, and somehow I find it quicker. I only ever dry the roots with my hair dryer as it takes far too long to dry all of my hair, I also don't like to use too much heat because I don't want to damage my hair too much. For those that are wondering, I wash my hair every other day and I tend to do it in the evening, so that overnight the ends of my hair can dry. Most of the time I wear my hair up because I have to have it up for work. But when I do rarely have it down, I tend to leave it as it has quite a natural wave.
