TheSortingHouse - Sorting the amazing from the awful…

Following on from My Current Base Coats post earlier, here’s another quick one to show you which top coats I keep going back to. As with the base coats, once I’ve got a really good feel for them I will do a proper review, so do stayed tuned for those.

My Current | Top Coats

It’s important to use a top coat to seal your nail colour, or nail art design. Not only does it prolong the life of your mani, but also protects it from chips and other nasty thangs.

Much like base coats, there are all kinds of top coats too. Ones to remedy nail problems, make your nails stronger, nail polish dry quicker and others which are both a base coat and a top coat in one.

Can you recommend any top coats? Let us know in the comments below.

Sally Hansen Mega Shine

I’ve been using this top coat for ages now, and always go back to it when I’m not sure which to buy. It really does give a mega shine, but I’ve never properly tested it out for it’s claims to ‘extended wear and strength’. You can get it for £6.39 from Boots, and you’ll get 24 advantage points.

Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat

It took me a while to get on the bandwagon with this one, but I’m finally there. I’ve been using Seche for a while now, but I do have my beef with it. I will write a proper review eventually, but to give you an idea of what I don’t like; the chemicals they use in the formula, the way it shrinks nail polish and how it goes gloopy half way through a bottle. But, sigh, you can’t beat having bone dry nails in next to no time. You can get it for £9.85 from Feelunique.

Jessica No Shine Matte Finish

After my little mishap with the OPI Matte Nail Envy, I needed to find an actual matte top coat. Jessica just happened to be the first one I came across when I found out that the OPI was actually a base coat. Jessica’s my first ‘proper’ mattifying top coat, and I can’t compare it with anything, but I still don’t find it to be very matte. I’ll have to get back to you on that. Like me, you can get it for £11.25 from John Lewis
