Movie Review – Wedding Daze (2006)

By Manofyesterday

Director: Michael Ian Black

Stars: Jason Biggs, Isla Fisher, Joe Pantoliano, Michael Weston, Ebon Moss-Bachrach

When Anderson (Biggs) proposes to his girlfriend she suffers a heart attack and dies. Rocked by this, he finds it impossible to move on. When prompted by his friend to at least try, he proposes to the first girl he sees, a waitress, Katie (Fisher). She’s having her own problems so accepts, and the two of them struggle with the decision they made as they meet each other’s friends and families.

It sounds like a cute, light-hearted comedy but wow is Wedding Daze terrible. I laughed a few times but it’s an awful, bad film. The characters are all over the place with no believeable feelings or motivations. Situations are crammed in disjointedly and there’s nothing to actually make you want to care about the characters. There are bizarre asides where Anderson speaks to his dead girlfriend that really bog the film down and almost everyone is paired up by the end, even if the couplings make no sense at all.

There’s a lot of disgusting humor that’s there for the sake of being disgusting. There’s no subtlely, wit, or heart at all. It sounds harsh to say it, but there’s nothing redeeming about it and I can’t recommend it. Avoid this one at all costs.
