Why aren't there superheroes in real life? The Dark Knight has already proven that you don't need superpowers to be one. Tony Stark, too. Well, I guess it's obvious we aren't insanely rich, but is that truly the reason they are heroes? It lies deeper than that. It is the desire to do good, the thirst for justice, the courage to stand up for what is right. That is what this story is all about.Image from here.
Kick-Ass' character is cool (and sometimes lame), but this film truly shines with the simultaneously adorable, deadly and awesome Hit-Girl. I actually wish the movie was Hit-Girl instead! There isn't a dull moment with her on-screen. Also pretty cool is Big Daddy, played by Nicolas Cage. This is actually one of this best characters in recent history. This fits him so well that he shouldn't even think of playing another superhero. Haha. I wish this movie revolved around them instead, but it is still a very good movie with lots of heart.Other Notable Cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson as David Lizewski/Kick-Ass - His geeky, shy, Harry Potter-ish look and demeanor work for the character. Mark Strong as Frank D'Amico - He also played Sinestro in Green Lantern. Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Chris D'Amico - McLovin'!!! Lyndsy Fonseca as Katie Deauxma - You might recognize her as the very bored daughter of Ted from How I Met Your Mother. Evan Peters as Todd Haynes - He's also the creepy-ass kid from American Horror Story. I find it funny that Peters will play Quicksilver in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, while Kick-Ass is playing Quicksilver in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Verdict: 4/5 - Touching, entertaining, and definitely kick-ass. The colorful characters and plot make this movie very enjoyable and memorable.
