Also known as Armed Response, In Security is about a flailing home security business based in the safest town in America. The owners, desperate to drum up business, turn to crime as they rob people’s houses in order to get them to come and buy home security systems, until they rob the wrong person…
This film is awful. It’s kind of amusing at first but it quickly degenerates into a worthless pile of garbage. There are a few cameos from likeable actors but those aren’t enough to save it. There are also some gory and gruesome scenes, which feel completely out of place as the rest of the film has a very light-hearted feel to it. But the ending is utter dross. There’s a framing device where one of the characters is talking about how he made a lot of money in security, but at the end no-one really believes him, they poke holes in his story and he’s not able to adequately defend himself so you can’t actually be sure that the story was reliable. I guess the directors were going for a cool, mind-blowing twist but it comes off as evidence of they don’t know what they’re doing. It makes no sense and adds nothing to the film, all it serves is to leave the viewer miffed that they spent 90 mins of their life watching something completely meaningless.
So I’m going to save you the trouble. Avoid at all costs.
