Mountain Honey

By Carolineld @carolineld
This strange-looking object was one of the specialities I came across in Yangshuo, China: apparently, the moss-covered object is a lump of wild mountain honey. The mass above still has a piece of branch through its middle. It has dried into a solid piece, and is chopped up with a cleaver and hammer for sale in smaller lumps. Pieces can then be broken off and melted into hot water as a drink.
I've not been able to find out any other information about this. If anybody knows more, I'd love to hear!
