Money

By Mike Bullock

Money is a funny thing
It fills you full of fear
Especially when the car plays up
And holidays draw near
The Lord is king of everything
Except our pile of cash
And when He asks for part of it
We come out in a rash.

Working to release our grip
He says that tithing’s right
And we will go along with it
But not without a fight
And then He says that we should sow
Into a fertile ground
But we’ve already been so kind
His reasons can’t be sound.

Money is a prison
It can control your life
The ties that bind will suffocate
And lead you into strife
He promises to keep us up
Above the waves of debt
Let the kingdom have your dosh
It’s loss you won’t regret.
