More Details

I hadn’t heard of Mirenesse before receiving Glossy Kiss in my April 2013 Birchbox, but I’m really glad I got it. Although I’m not a huge fan of coloured lips (I’m too in love with the natural look of Jason Lips Bee Healthier lip balm), I have been pleasantly surprised by this one; Mirenesse Glossy Kiss in shade 14 Perfect Kiss.

The reasons for this are because it’s not a lipstick or a lip gloss, it isn’t a coloured lip balm or even a chubby stick; it’s a really bold and glossy color stick which can be used on both lips and cheeks. That’s right; it’s multi-versatile. If you apply a little to your cheeks you can rub it in and have a blusher which will instantly match your lip color (oh and it blends ridiculously well), but the thing that makes this even better is that the Mirenesse Glossy Kiss will last all day AND it won’t stain your lips or your skin. It’s actually amazing in that respect.

I did the highly-frowned-upon thing of sleeping with make up on because I wanted to know if it could survive the night. I applied the Glossy Kiss about an hour before going to bed and I noticed that it glided onto my lips so well and it was so easy to use, and it didn’t feel sticky or jelly-like. My lips felt moisturised, comfortable and not at all dry which is a really nice change from many lipsticks I’ve tried, and yet the color was still bold and slightly shimmery. So I went to sleep and 8 hours later I woke up to find that my lips were still red, somehow. They were faded a little bit and weren’t as bold or as shimmery, but the color was even and noticeable and there wasn’t any fading or smudging around my lips. Better yet, my lips didn’t feel dry, and when I rubbed a tissue over my them the Glossy Kiss came off easily and hadn’t stained my skin. It’s really reassuring to know that Glossy Kiss could actually last all day.

The full size version of the Mirenesse Glossy Lips is £17.50 which I think is rather expensive, but the normal pencil twists up like a lipstick so it’ll probably last a long time, especially as you don’t need to top it up too often. My sample size can apparently be sharpened with a chubby stick sharpener but I’ve not tried it. However going back to the price, I’m not sure I would pay that much for Glossy Lips – not because it’s not good but because I don’t wear much color on my lips. If I did, I would definitely choose this over other chubby sticks, lip balms and lip sticks because the color is bold but it’s also hydrating and comfortable to wear. I like how I can use it as a blusher too. I think I would probably get even more use out of it if it wasn’t such a bright red. Other than that, I would recommend it!
